Marketers Plan To Ratchet Up Social Media Advertising In 2015

While social media platforms continue to look for new ways to increase ad revenue, it appears that brands will happily pay the price in 2015.

The focus of most marketing plans will be on creating digital ads for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and the like, but 70% marketers will also pay greater attention towards building their organic following through content and social marketing as well, according to a report by Salesforce.

“One of the fears I had was that since social media advertising grew, you might see some brands fail to recognize you have to support the organic side of it as well,” said Jeff Rohrs, vp of marketing insights at Salesforce. “Otherwise, those advertisements won’t perform. But it looks like the advertising will be complemented by the organic side.”

Yes, as important as it will be to spend money on promoting content on social media, it will still be just as necessary to focus on growing organically through high-quality original content. Engagement is key and brands are not forgetting that in 2015.

An overwhelming majority of marketers surveyed by Salesforce also plan to either increase their efforts in digital advertising or hold steady with their current budget. Critically, 38% will shift their resources from traditional advertising to digital marketing.

Other findings in the Salesforce findings show that marketers are understanding the importance of mobile and that email is as important as ever when it comes to having a good marketing plan (which dovetails nicely with what we’ve written on the subjects).

71 percent said mobile marketing is core to their business.
68 percent have integrated mobile into their larger marketing strategy.
58 percent have a dedicated mobile team.
73 percent think email is core to their business.
66 percent believe social media is core to their business.
66 percent have a dedicated social media team.
56 percent said their corporate websites are their most effective digital technologies.

The future is here. Social marketing is not a trend. If anything, it’s quickly becoming the cornerstone of any brand’s marketing arm.
